Malaysia is home for a highly diverse and vibrant Higher Education Sector that caters not only for students from Malaysia but for those who come from the region and all over the world too. Private universities in Malaysia offer a wide range of high quality educational programmes that develop highly sought after talent, performs impactful research to high standards, and positively engage with the community and contribute to the economy.
The Vice Chancellors Council for Private Universities (VCCPU) is a think tank and a collaborative action group with membership of the leaders of the private universities in Malaysia. It is aimed at providing an inclusive platform for exchange, understanding and collaboration among all the stakeholders interested in the development and advancement of the higher education sector in Malaysia.
The VCCPU is committed, through education, research, and community engagement, to the advancement of science, application of knowledge, and development of talent towards building a sustainable, equitable, and enjoyable world.
As such, the VCCPU works closely with policy makers, employers, students’ associations, and community leaders to ensure that the private universities in Malaysia and their students are well supported and empowered to deliver educational outcomes and research outputs that will deliver a positive and sustainable impact to the country, the region, and the world.
Ir. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Ewe Hong Tat is the President and CEO of Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR). He is also the President of the ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology (AAET). His areas of research are microwave remote sensing, applied electromagnetism and intelligent computing. He loves reading books, particularly those related to science and technology.
