From our chairman
Welcome to the home of Malaysia’s Vice Chancellors Council for Private Universities (VCCPU). It is a true honour to serve as the chairman of the VCCPU which is a collegial platform, think tank, and an action group of the leaders of the private universities in Malaysia. I am a firm believer of the role that education – and particularly higher education – plays in ensuring that our communities and the world continue to flourish.
The world faces multiple existential challenges, including the climate emergency, growing inequality, and numerous stresses caused by health, economic and geopolitical crises. These interrelated challenges are making the world more complex and uncertain than ever. But even among that complexity and uncertainty, those of us with a positive outlook believe that we need to aim at shaping and creating a world that is sustainable, equitable, and enjoyable.
Let us make that a reality.
These three aspirations thrive together and need each other, and they all have talent development, leadership, and education at heart. To future proof our youth, our universities need to commit to building purpose-driven leaders who will shape a more positive, prosperous, and inclusive future, leaders who are not only highly competent and successful but also impactful and with a deep sense of purpose. Individuals who are successful and impactful will be able to flourish and, as a result, make the world flourish with them.
As leaders of the higher education sector, we are fully aware of the responsibilities and the challenges we have in front of us. We are simultaneously full of hope as we know that working closely together, we can, and we will make a positive difference in the world.
